It is a regional city and won the coveted "World's Most Liveable City" award for its size in Munich, Germany 2002. It is located on the edge of the Pacific Ocean at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef with a backdrop of stunning mountains and enjoys a temperate climate. The activities on offer are numerous and range from scuba diving, horse riding, skydiving, surfing to visiting the zoo. The Southern Cross University at Coffs Harbour also attracts a healthy demographic mix of people from students, to businesses to families.

Accommodation at motels, flats/apartments, guesthouses, backpackers etc may be arranged, however it has been found to be extremely beneficial for foreign students to stay with families and therefore immersing themselves into the Australian "way of life'.
